Apex Power Project

Year Built: 2003      Peak Plant Capacity: 531 MW     Generation Type: Natural Gas Combined Cycle

SCPPA Participant: LADWP

SCPPA Participation

On behalf of LADWP, SCPPA acquired the Apex Power Project from the Las Vegas Power Company in March 2014. Located in Clark County, Nevada, the project consists of a natural gas-fired, combined cycle generating facility and generator interconnection facilities.

How Apex Works

The facility uses combustion turbine generators and a steam turbine generator. Reliant on heat recovery steam generators to control the oxides of nitrogen, the heat recovery steam generators include a selective catalytic reduction system and use a carbon monoxide catalyst to control carbon monoxide emissions.
